The Joy of a Family History
Now is the time to think ahead to Christmas 2026. Yes. Now!
A recent client gave Faith Editorial Services the privilege of editing a book of their family history. It was a couple hundred pages of history, timelines, photos, reproductions of historical documents, and so much more, for one branch of their family tree. This client is having the book printed to give to family members for Christmas. I can see it now. After all the gifts are opened and the floor is piled high with crinkled paper and ribbon, Grandma and Grandpa are sitting side-by-side on the sofa turning page after page. “Oh, I remember …!” and “Do you remember …?” It is a gift that will be opened countless times in the coming year, and each opening will remind them of all that family means.
I was filled with joy knowing how meaningful this gift was going to be to those who received it. So many of us despair over finding meaningful gifts this time of year, and we grieve over money spent on gifts that may not last long.
Now is the time to start gathering the details, whether few or many, and getting them organized. Printing takes time, and this isn’t a project to start two weeks before Christmas.
